The congregation members participating in the Intergenerational Mission Trip to Harlan, Kentucky on July 23-29, 2017 will have returned by the time you read this article. Kathy Holcombe, Jan Stebbins, and Melanie Morgan participated in the SWAP program during their time in Kentucky. SWAP stands for Sharing With Appalachian People.

Participants were involved in a SWAP Project, involving home repair work to help make homes in the region safe, warm and dry. In the process we hope to build relationships with the homeowners. This was also be an opportunity for spiritual discipleship through prayer, devotionals and fellowship while surrounded by God’s most magnificent creation. We learned about the past and present economies of the region and experienced the music and culture of the area through song, storytelling and craftsmanship activities, all while exploring the abundance of the local natural beauty.
