(<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.lwr.org\/topics\/agriculture\/lwr-the-global-goals-ending-hunger\/\">Read part one<\/a>.)<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What are the Global Goals?<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6582 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.lwr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/01_TGG_Horizontal_color-550x197.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" alt=\"01_TGG_Horizontal_color\" width=\"550\" height=\"197\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>The Global Goals\u00a0constitute the next 15-year\u00a0framework that will guide country plans, priorities and investments to reduce poverty and promote development. They will influence the definition of development, how it is funded and how it is measured.<\/p>\n<p>In this blog series, we will explore a few of the Global Goals you are directly supporting through LWR. And we continue with Goal #5.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Gender Equality<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6672 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.lwr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/TGG_Icon_Color_05-150x150.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 241px) 100vw, 241px\" alt=\"TGG_Icon_Color_05\" width=\"241\" height=\"241\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalgoals.org\/global-goals\/gender-equality\/\">Goal\u00a0#5:\u00a0Gender Equality<\/a>\u00a0is similar to the goal of ending hunger, in that it doesn\u2019t shy away from tackling big issues. This goal sets the priority of\u00a0<strong>ending all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere and eliminating all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>LWR\u2019s experience and commitment to gender integration provide important dividends not only for the quality and sustainability of our programs, but also promotes our visibility and leadership among peer agencies. Through our <a href=\"http:\/\/programs.lwr.org\/gender\" target=\"_blank\">Learning for Gender Integration (LGI) initiative<\/a>, LWR is integrating gender into our work to address inequality around the world and ensure that men and women have equal opportunities to benefit from LWR\u2019s work. Through gender-integrated programming, LWR promotes the elimination of discriminatory beliefs and practices, encourages dignity of work and economic equity, and fulfills gender-related international agreements, such as the U.N.
