Rev. Bond Haldeman

The Rev. Bond Haldeman has served as pastor with Saint John Lutheran Church since 2006. Pastor Bond grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, there earning his bachelor’s degree. While living in Madison he was employed for a few years in restaurant management.

After Madison, Pastor Bond attended seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, earning his Master of Divinity degree. Pastor Bond has served in parish ministry for more than 20 years, serving two congregations, in Wisconsin and Illinois, before coming to Saint John Lutheran Church. He lives in Janesville with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs.

Pastor Bond is often reading theology or psychology, and rarely, science fiction. He is involved with his children’s activities, and he enjoys running with his wife, but finds he does not have enough time to play his cello.

Melissa Van Tassell

Born and raised in Janesville, Melissa came to serve the congregation in September of 2003. She studied at the University of Wisconsin and holds short course certificates from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in New York and Truform Orthotics in Ohio. She comes to the congregation with 30+ years of experience providing executive assistant support in the engineering, medical, and industrial fields as well as owning her own executive support business. She was privileged to serve as the first female Council President in her home congregation.

You will find her in the church office, ready to help with any questions, concerns, or projects that you have. If she doesn’t have an immediate answer for you, she will pursue the matter until she does.

Melissa and her husband, David, have five children, three children-in-law, and five grandchildren. She will be happy to show you pictures!
