The St. John Congregation will again be celebrating Compassion Sunday on Mother’s Day. We choose this day because there is no greater way to honor one’s mother than to do God’s work. Supporting a child helps to care for children in places where families do not have the means to give their children the basic needs of shelter, food, clothing, and education.

Compassion’s ministry is focused on the individual child and his or her development. By working holistically with individual children to address their spiritual, economic, social and physical needs, they present every child with an opportunity to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.  Although entire communities may feel the positive impact of Compassion’s presence, their goal is to release children one-by-one from poverty in Jesus’ name. What happens in the life of a child ripples throughout their environment now and in the future.

Compassion International believes that changed environments may assist children, but transformed children will inevitably change their environments.  On this day, we want to recognize the 25 individuals, families, and groups who currently sponsor children through Compassion or another organization. We will be updating the map in the walkway, so stop and take a look at all of the smiling faces! Thank you and Happy Mother’s Day!
