At its November meeting the Congregation Council of St. John Lutheran Church approved proposed amendments to the Constitution of the congregation, and called a Special Congregation Meeting.

A Special Congregation Meeting is called for January 13, 2019, at 10:30 for the purpose of voting on the recommended amendments.

The amendments, contained in the document “Draft 11-6-18 Proposed Revisions to the Constitution,” are available in print in the narthex following worship, or at the congregation office during regular office hours (8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m., Monday through Thursday).

In an effort to make our organizational structure more effective, the amendments group around three areas: Planning Groups, Congregation Meetings, and Congregation Council. Temple talks during announcements are being given about each area on the Sundays preceding the Special Congregation Meeting. If the amendments are approved at the Special Congregation Meeting by a simple majority, they will be presented for ratification by a two-thirds majority vote at the regular Annual Meeting of the Congregation, January 27, 2019, and become effective at that time.
