A New Course for Personal and Spiritual Growth
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
What is the Church, really? At least one answer to that question is this: The Church is the body of Christ on earth. The Apostle Paul wrote, “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27).
The Holy Spirit has given each of us unique gifts to carry out God’s work in the world. It is not easy, however, to discover our gifts or to develop and use them effectively. That’s why our congregation is offering the course Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life: You and Your Spiritual Gifts.
Where do you fit into Christ’s plan for the world? The answer lies in the unique gifts God has given you. This course will provide a renewed understanding of who God created you to be and God’s design for Christian community. You’ll find clues to your spiritual gifts in the Haugk Spiritual Gifts Inventory and other gifts discovery activities. Then you’ll explore opportunities to further develop and use your gifts.
Pastor Bond, will teach this course. Sessions will cover such topics as the following:
- Why you are unique
- Finding real joy
- Where your spiritual gifts come from
- Love is the heart of spiritual gifts
- Exploring and applying your spiritual gifts
Beginning on Thursday, September 7, 2017, the class will meet every Thursday at 9:00-11:30 a.m. OR at 6:00-8:30 p.m. for five weeks in Friendship Hall or the Library of St. John Lutheran Church. The course concludes in the fifth week with a Ministry Celebration which will affirm the efforts and accomplishments of course graduates and help individuals explore their interests and involvement in using their gifts.
